Summary of investments in Trakia Еconomic Zone for 2016 – 2017
With more than 140 enterprises, 1.5 billion euros of investments (made for 20 years) and 30 000 jobs Trakia Economic Zone /TEZ/ has made Plovdiv the most developed industrial center of Bulgaria thanks to the cooperation between companies Sienit Holding and KCM 2000, 9 municipalities – Plovdiv, Asenovgrad, Kaloyanovo, Kuklen, Maritza, Parvomay, Rakovski, Rodopi and Stamboliyski, two associations – “Cluster Trakia Economic Zone” and “Cluster Information and Communication Technologies Plovdiv”, and the business. This year, the municipalities of Haskovo and Burgas have joined Trakia Economic Zone. Investments for 2016 in the Trakia Еconomic Zone are 180 million euros. Among the largest are the automobile electronics factory of the American “Sensata Technologies”. “Sensata Technologies” is a manufacturer and supplier of high-temperature sensors for the automotive industry. The company is part of the international holding “Sensata Technologies” – a global manufacturing and technology company with activity in the field of development, manufacture and sale of sensors and control systems used in automotive, aircraft, shipbuilding, military, heavy-goods, telecommunication industry, etc. . The company has invested in TEZ $ 35 million, and the long-term plan is to create a total of 1 200 jobs by 2020.
A new investor in Trakia Economic Zone in 2016 is the manufacturer of steering technology “Willi Elbe Automotive Bulgaria” – a subsidiary of the German Willi Elbe Gelenkwellen, which built a factory here.
The Bulgarian-German company “Entrama” for the production of machines for the food industry also built a factory in Trakia Economic Zone in 2016.
Liebherr-Hausgeräte Marica / manufactures high-quality table-height refrigerators and freezers, non-regulated combined fridge-freezers, as well as top freezers/, part of the German company Liebherr, completed the construction of its new logistics center, located on 32 000 sq. m. It has increased production in the factory premises so that after the last extension of the factory, 1 000 000 refrigeration appliances are produced annually.
The manufacturer of details for white appliances, the German “Mecalit”, started production in new area in the Trakia Economic Zone in 2016 – for plastic elements for the automotive industry. The additional line has invested about 3 million euros and among the clients are companies such as Renault – Nissan, Volkswagen and Mercedes.
For 2017:
In 2017, the plant of the German company Osram, the world’s leading expert in lighting and technology, was opened. The investment amounts to approximately EUR 25 million, and it creates 900 jobs. At the enterprise in Trakia Economic Zone, products for intelligent buildings and intelligent cities are produced. The plant is part of Osram’s digital unit, Digital Systems, which develops, manufactures and sells electronic components and lighting systems.
Another investor is the French company Latécoère, a leading supplier in the aircraft industry. “Latécoère” has a hundred-year history in the production of cabinet elements and doors, electrical cabinets and is a first-tier supplier of airplane companies such as Airbus, Boeing, Embrarer, Dassault and Bombardier. On September 27, 2017, she began the construction of a plant for aircraft parts in the Trakia Economic Zone. The initial investment of the enterprise amounts to 11 million euros, with 200 jobs being opened. For three years, the investment will reach 15 million euros.
